Workplace Strategy and FM in ESG reality
Workplace is not just a building. It’s about people’s work-life and facilities empowering business opportunities. Integrating people, place, process and technology is core to FM promoting workplace transformation to increase the quality of life of the people and productivity of the core business. However, it has recently been challenged by the pandemic. Since the shifting of the working behaviour impacted the physical environment, large corporates redefine their workspace and the purpose of using it accordingly to achieve corporate brand & image, as well as cost reduction. The other signs to the workplace are ESG and Net-zero Carbon targets are critical but real estate impact is viewed as limited. According to the UNEP, buildings and construction’s share most of global energy and energy-related CO2 emissions. More than half believe their company’s commitment to net zero carbon targets will change their real estate choices in the future. Leads to the growth of green building rating systems around the world and SDGs activities relate to the building sector. Therefore, ‘planet’ shall be promoted as another core of FM as a premium on sustainability.
Speaker: Ayuthaporn Buranakul, Executive Director, Department Head – Workplace Strategy and Project Services, Knight Frank Thailand

How Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are Paving the Way for Smart Construction
Co-organised with Asia Pacific Assistive Robotics Association (APARA)
Synopsis:
AI & Robotic technologies have definitely made our lives easier in multiple ways. We can access multiple benefits right through our smartphones with the power of digital assistants like Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa, as well as smart machines and social robots. In today’s world, multiple industries such as healthcare, e-commerce, financial services, etc., are leveraging the benefits of AI to the fullest of its potential. The technology has helped businesses grow in leaps and bounds with improved quality, security, and efficiency. However, it is observed that engineering and construction are lagging behind in implementing AI & Robotics solutions. The construction industry is worth more than $10 trillion a year.
Due to the complex challenges that the construction industry faces, the growth in the industry is severely limited. Dealing with challenges like cost and time overruns, labor shortage, health and safety, and productivity can bring revolution in the industry. The construction industry has tremendous potential, and just by digitization and automation, economically, the worth of the construction industry can be raised by $1.6 trillion a year. AI & Robotics in construction can be instrumental in bringing this shift.

Embracing Digital Technologies for Circular Construction
The world economy has grown to unprecedented levels, with global GDP now exceding USD94 trillion. On this trajectory, we are set to consume 2.3 planets by 2040. To make this work for people and the planet, we need to shift gears: from a linear “take-make-waste” economy to a circular “reduce-reuse-recycle” one.
